Continuing to Meet the Needs of Children in 2022

A letter from our CEO and President, Ronald H. Carter

Dear Friends, I often share personal stories about the positive effects of our work on children and families. Our Hope In Action Fund is one of the most meaningful ways we improve lives, and our volunteer coordinators, both in the United States and abroad, can testify to that fact on a regular basis, as they witness first-hand the changes among the children in our program that they serve. At Sparta Elementary School, in the scenic […]

A Year Later and a Lot of Big Changes

Thanks to our partnership with the Jeunesse Kids Foundation, we have been able to help thousands of children in need

In early 2021, we were fortunate to partner with the Jeunesse Foundation to support children in our projects around the world. A year later, we look back at what we have been able to accomplish thanks to their support. Our Director of International Programs, Luis Bourdet, writes about the projects we have supported abroad: “Tablets were distributed to children at affiliated programs in Colombia, Brazil, and Peru over the past year, thanks to the Jeunesse […]

Thanksgiving Meals for Kids and Their Families

Thanks to our donors, children received food to take home for the holidays

Thanksgiving is a special time of year for many families in the United States, but for those living in poverty, the expense of purchasing food for the holiday can be something they just can’t afford. Thankfully, for many of our sponsored children, we were able to provide funding from our Hope In Action Fund and our U.S. Feeding Program Fund to purchase meals to send home before Thanksgiving break. At the request of our volunteer […]

Contributing to an Entire Community

A new agriculture program in Bolivia is helping children and adults alike

Throughout the year, our affiliated projects from around the world share special project proposals with us that will help improve the lives of not only the children that we support but their families as well. Thanks to our Hope In Action program, we are often able to support many of our projects so they can grow their programs and offer skills training and other important resources to impoverished communities in which we work. A proposal […]

Providing Stability in New Mexico

While dealing with trauma at home, our sponsorship program offers consistency for children in need

The town of Bloomfield, where our affiliated project, the Hanaa Dli Community School/Dormitory, is located, is known as New Mexico’s “tableland” — a desert crisscrossed by gullies and washes in the United States’ Navajo Nation. Families in this community live in traditional Navajo hogans, made of logs and mud, in remote areas that make a daily commute for children to the closest schools not viable. Additionally, poverty, unemployment, and a sense of hopelessness pervade Navajo […]

Our Feeding Program in the United States

Children in the United States need food to take home after school and on the weekends

Our Feeding Program is hard at work in the US, providing children food to take home on the weekends and during summer break when they otherwise might not receive regular meals. We support children at our affiliated projects in Kentucky, Washington, D.C., Arizona, New Mexico, Virginia, and New Orleans. What is backpack feeding? Twenty-two million children receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. Although free […]
