Burrville Elementary School is located in Ward 7, Washington, D.C. and is our first school affiliation in this historic ward. Distinguished by its leafy streets, single-family homes, transit stations and above all, its greenspace, Ward 7 also has the unfortunate distinction of being one of the poorest wards in all of D.C. Unlike the wealthier Ward 2 and Ward 3, which constitute the richest parts of the city, many Ward 7 residents lack basic needs such as adequate heat in their homes. The poverty that families face lead to many students being sent to school without proper shoes, socks, raincoats and winter gear, and often they don’t have food at home over the weekend.

Partnering with Children Incorporated and Communities in Schools, Burrville Elementary School serves as a beacon of hope for these children and the surrounding community, a place to break the cycle of poverty and provide the opportunity for a brighter future through education.
