Thank You for Twelve Years

Thank You for Twelve Years

The bond between children and their sponsors can be magical and life-changing. In the United States, more than 1,300 impoverished American Indian children are sponsored through Children, Incorporated in Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota,  South Dakota and Utah. But right now 50 are still waiting for a sponsor. A commitment of just $28 per month delivers education, hope and opportunity to children in the U.S. and the 22 other countries we serve. These simple gifts that many of us take for granted made all the difference to Ella, an American Indian and recent graduate whose sponsor has played a major role in her life.

Dear Ms. Fredia,

Hello. Well I wanted to thank you for the wonderful gifts you sent. The one that I loved the most was the bathrobe. And I also wanted to thank you for all the wonderful things you have done for me since I was a little Navajo kid. You were the one person that always had me going for my goals. I really want to thank you for that. Twelve years have gone by so fast with you. It seems like just yesterday that I got your first letter and gifts. Who would have thought you would be seeing me so grown up? That’s why I love you for everything you’ve done for me. I am going to miss hearing from you next year. Well I can go on and on about you but I have to stop because I might cry. So I hope you have a good holiday with your family.

Ella

Since this letter was written, Ella has graduated high school and moved on to take her place in the world, but the bond she had with her sponsor continues to impact her. Ella was able to follow her dreams because her sponsor stuck with her from first through twelfth grade, providing not only the financial but also moral support. Many of our sponsors and children develop long-lasting and meaningful relationships through their involvement in Children, Incorporated.  We hope that you’ll consider changing a child’s life by becoming a sponsor, or if you are already a sponsor to make a difference in the life of just one more. Who knows? In 12 years, you could be the one receiving a letter celebrating the successful graduation of your child.
