On a recent trip to Kentucky I had the pleasure of visiting one of our sponsored children’s homes. Andrew lives in a small mobile home at the top of a mountain with his younger siblings Billy and Megan. To get there, you travel up a long, winding gravel road. The school bus doesn’t go up the mountain, so to get to school, Andrew and his siblings have to walk down the mountain. It’s easy to see how their home could be inaccessible during the winter months. Andrew lives in a two-bedroom mobile home. Up until recently he’s shared a room with his brother and sister. When I visited, members of Crosspoint Church from Georgia were getting ready to paint and carpet a new bedroom for his sister Megan, converting the family’s two-bedroom trailer into a three-bedroom trailer.

Needless to say, Megan wa
s absolutely thrilled. Although she is very shy, Megan showed the Children, Incorporated staff her new room and described how it would look when completed-with pink walls and pink carpet, of course! We hope to assist Megan through our sponsorship program so that she can receive support year-round. Andrew and his brother Billy also received a bedroom makeover. For the first time, both boys will have a place to store their clothing and personal items. Neither one has ever had a dresser- there simply wasn’t enough space in their small room. Our coordinator got storage bins donated that would fit under their new beds with each boy’s name embroidered on the top. Andrew and Billy were so proud of their storage bins. Crosspoint Church and Children, Incorporated’s work with Andrew and his family is a great example of how charitable organizations often work together to meet children’s needs. Thank you Crosspoint Church and congratulations to Andrew, Billy and Megan on your new rooms!
